PARTIES

I thought you might be interested in hearing about the dance and drama parties we offer.

We can organise 'Funky Jazz Dance Parties' or Drama/Themed parties.  Your child may have a favourite song in the charts or from a musical etc.  which we will prepare a dance to and our party leader will teach all the children at the party.  With drama your child may like a party based on Peter Pan or Harry Potter etc or whatever your ideas may be.  We will create the party to fit your child and their friends.

The standard party lasts 2 hours.  The first hour is spent with our party leader 'teaching' or guiding the children.  Either making up a dance or improvisation to do with the theme they have chosen.  Sometimes games can be adapted around the drama theme.  All children are welcome to come in fancy dress.

There is then a break of half an hour for you to give the children some food, depending on the time of day.  This is supplied by you.  In the final half an hour the party leader continues the activity you have chosen.  If the children want to they can then show the parents what they have achieved when they are picked up.

Every party is unique and great fun.  We discuss all the options with you on the phone and try to provide you with something special for your child.  All you have to do is find (and pay for) the venue and feed the children.  If there are a lot of children we may ask you to make sure there are some other adults around, just in case.

Prices start at £80.00 for 10 children and then £5.00 per head for any more.

I hope this covers most of your questions.  Please do not hesitate to contact us at the above.  We look forward to hearing from you.

HOW ABOUT THIS :-

We are going to introduce the following idea for parties, if you would like further information please call us on 01306 875486

POI would make the most original of Parties

"Poi (pronounced "poy" as in "boy") is a traditional dance from the Maori people of New Zealand. Recently it has developed into a new performance art where the worlds of dance and juggling have combined to produce a beautiful form of movement.

Poi are simply 2 (one in each hand) cords/strings with a weight on the end - traditionally a bag filled with seeds on the end of a hemp rope, modern versions range from "sock poi" (literally socks with a weight in the end) to tailed poi - often tennis-balls on the end of a cord decorated in bright rip-stop fabric with a long tail, and for the more advanced, fire poi.

They are swung by the side of the "spinner" and with a bit of practise you can learn a variety of different movements and ways of spinning the poi to create different patterns. Combined with some simple stepping and body movement it turns into a beautiful dance.

For parties, we can arrange introductory classes in poi spinning - from making and decorating your own poi to take away, to the first steps in learning to spin and becoming a poi dancer!

Your teacher, Paul, has been spinning poi for nearly 8 years and has performed at several festivals and events and has taught countless people to spin poi."
